HMRC Anti Money Laundering Supervision, Fees & Registration

  • Filling in the Application form:
  • We will liaise with you for the details requested on the form so as to provide correct and true details to the HMRC. Based on our experience, we will advise and guide on the best ways to fulfil the legal requirements of HMRC regarding the business plan and activities to be carried out and eligibility criteria in terms of work experience, fitness and propriety of the Responsible persons to be in charge of the business.
  • Follow-up Queries: 
  • Once the application form is submitted, we will assist with any queries raised by the case worker by reviewing your application. Such queries normally involve policy documents of the business. (Risk Assessment and AML)
  • Fees & Charges:
  • The fee charged by the HMRC for submission of the application is GBP 300.00 per year, per location where the business will be carried out from. Fit and Proper tests for directors: One-off fee of GBP 150.00 per person.

FCA Authorisation for Money Remittance Business

Alexander James Solicitors have experts who can assist with the legalities regarding many types of authorisations with the FCA.

Our team has experience in drafting policies and other documentations that are required by the FCA. To fulfil our clients needs our team are able to assist in the authorisations for Money Service Businesses SPI or API.

  • Informing you about the contents of the application pack which varies, depending on your firm's size and the complexity of the operation.
  • To minimize the after-submission queries from the FCA, we will prepare your firm's policies and procedures, business plan, internal control procedures and other supporting documents in a manner that answers most questions the first time around.
    The final application pack will be then sent to you for review before submission
  • After Submission queries :
    Our consultants will be on hand to help you answer any question the FCA case officer may ask after the application has been submitted. We will ensure the responses are sent to the case officer in a professional manner and to the point.
    We can also assist if the FCA requires further discussion (in the form of an interview/meeting) on the application.
  • Final Outcome :
    Once satisfied, the FCA case officer may issue some pre-approval conditions to meet before final authorization. We will assist you with the legal requirements in meeting those conditions.
  • When you receive the final authorization letter and your company is listed in FCA public register, we can arrange a meeting with you to hand over the compliance manual and framework and to discuss all the commitments made in the application which now need to be implemented in practice.
  • Money remittance businesses are also required to be registered with HMRC, under MLR 2017. Our consultants will assist you to prepare and submit the policies required for these applications
  • We will advise you on any refusal decision and guide you through the appeal process.

What is a Sponsor Licence ? 
Sponsorship License Immigration (Home office)

The Immigration Act (Home Office) requires all businesses that intend to employ talented workers from outside of the UK to first obtain a sponsorship licence from the UK Home Office. 

Sponsorship licences are complex and any refusal may lead to a 6 Month bar before a further application can be made.

Alexander James Solicitors can assist and advise you on the requirements for obtaining a sponsorship licence with the Home Office in the following:

  • Skilled Workers Visa - To be eligible for skilled worker visa the employer must offer a genuine job
  • Monitoring & Compliance policy to manage sponsorship duties
  • The Key Personnel has been appointed and thereof good character and dependable
  • HR systems are in place to manage the employees
  • The business is offering employment suitable for the skill requirement with a minimal salary guideline

Our package starts from £1000 GBP (+VAT) + The Home Office fee which presently is £536GBP.

We do not offer legal aid, you may check your eligibility though www.gov.uk/check-legal-aid

At Alexander James our immigration team will clearly explain the cost of your case at outset so you know what you need to pay to fund the work Alexander James will carry out for you.

We can also offer fix fee and in some more complex cases this may not be suitable to fix a fee, however we will provide you and estimate on each stage of your case and we may be able to offer you instalment plans.

Our package starts from £500 (+ VAT) + the Home Office Fee for a basic support and advising you with the application.
